Over the years I have worked towards several photographic qualifications. One of these is my DPAGB, Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. The PAGB is the parent organisation to which most photography clubs belong. It organises events and competitions for clubs to take part in, and Awards for Photographic Merit.
DPAGB is the middle level Award. It is really quite difficult to achieve.  15 images are submitted, and scored by 6 highly experienced photographic judges. Each judge gives a mark from 2 to 5.
The system is a voting system, where 4 means “Yes (at required level)”, 3 means “Near Miss”, 2 means “Below Required Standard” and 5 means “Probable Award Winner, well above the standard required”. An average mark of 20 is required across the set, which makes the pass mark 300.
I just made it, with 301!
Being there on the day, watching the judging, is a nerve-racking experience, especially if one or two of your images get a score below 20, as it means the ones to follow have to get a good score to compensate! So here is my set. All random images, no set theme, just what I considered at the time to be my best work.
I was inspired and advised by some very good fellow photographer friends with far more experience than I, and I thank them all
